Kinetix developed systems and software for visual effects, 3D-animation, editing, and broadcasting used in the creation of video, HDTV, films, games, and the internet. The new Kinetix office was used by its parent company, Autodesk, as a pilot project to implement new alternative office strategies aimed at work process, flexibility, and dynamic team organization, while emphasizing workplace interaction. The environment supports telecommuting and the flexible nature of project-based teams through open areas featuring freestanding furniture elements in interchangeable kits of parts, tailored to three types of employees; lockers and mobile pedestals to support workplace flexibility and mobility; meeting spaces in enclosed and open settings; and areas for chance encounters between employees — a vital element for quick idea-sharing in the fast-moving multi-media industry.
